The short version
A plain summary for orientation only. The numbered sections below are the agreement.
Everything we know about you came from you or from your own activity inside Qualvey. We do not buy, scrape or enrich data about you from outside sources, and we do not track you across other websites.
A vendor only ever sees your participation in their own campaign. They receive your name only if you said you are open to being contacted, and they never receive your notes.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use your responses to train AI models.
You can ask us to delete your information. We remove what identifies you; we keep a deidentified record that a participation happened, and payment records where tax law requires.
1. Who we are
Qualvey, Inc., a Delaware corporation. [STREET ADDRESS], Austin, TX [ZIP]
legal@qualvey.com
Qualvey connects verified professionals with product content from software vendors. Vendors pay us to put content in front of the right people and to receive feedback on it. We pay participants for their time.
The reason that model exists is the reason this policy is short. Vendors already reach senior people by buying lists and inferring interest from behaviour those people never agreed to share. Qualvey works the other way around: nothing reaches a vendor unless someone chose to take part, and they decide whether their name goes with it. That principle is what the rest of this document describes.
2. What we don't do
This is the part that matters most, so it goes first.
- We do not track you across other websites. We place nothing on a vendor's site and nothing on any site we do not own. Every interaction we record happens inside Qualvey.
- We do not buy, scrape or enrich data about you from third-party sources. Everything we know about you either came from you directly or from your own activity inside Qualvey — never from an outside data broker.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- We do not use your responses to train AI models, and we do not licence them to anyone who does. If that ever changes, it will apply only to participations you complete after you have separately said yes — never to answers you have already given us. Section 14 sets out exactly what that would take.
- We never show your notes to a vendor. Not a word of them reaches the company whose video you watched, with or without your name on it. Section 14 sets out the one thing we may do with them ourselves, which is count them alongside everyone else’s in a form that names nobody.
- We do not share anything with a vendor unless you chose to take part in their campaign — and you decide whether your name goes with it.
3. Who this covers
Three kinds of people use Qualvey, and we collect different things from each:
- Visitors — anyone browsing qualvey.com
- Participants — professionals who watch vendor content and give feedback
- Company users — people at vendor companies who run campaigns
4. What we collect
From visitors
Standard technical information your browser sends: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site you arrived from. We use this to keep the site working and to understand which pages are useful.
From participants
When you register:
- Name
- Corporate email address (personal addresses are not accepted)
- LinkedIn profile
- Job title and employer
- A one-time code we send to confirm your email
During a campaign:
- How far through the video you got, and whether you finished it
- Your knowledge check answers, how many attempts you made, and when
- Your feedback survey answers
- Any notes you write while watching
- Whether you want to be contacted, and how soon
- What additional content, if any, you asked to see
- Which reward option you chose, and the email address you nominated for a gift card, or the charity you selected
- If you share a video with a colleague, their name and work email
How you interact with a campaign:
- Which links and buttons you use inside the flow — including if you click through to a vendor's website from a link we show you
- Timestamps for the steps you complete
We do not track you across other websites. We do not place anything on a vendor's site. Every interaction we record happens inside Qualvey.
What we work out from the above:
- A relevance score for each participation, calculated from your role, your stated interest, and how you engaged with the campaign
From company users
Name, work email, job title, company, and the details needed to run and pay for campaigns.
5. Why we use it
- To run campaigns and show you ones you are eligible for
- To confirm you are who you say you are
- To decide whether a participation is complete, and to pay the reward
- To pass the agreed information to the sponsoring vendor (section 6)
- To detect fraud, duplicate accounts and participations that are not genuine
- To meet our legal and tax obligations
- To improve how Qualvey works
- To produce aggregate and deidentified insight about categories of product and the people who evaluate them — with the limits set out in section 14
We do not use your responses to train AI models, and we do not licence them to anyone who does. Section 14 explains what we may do with information that no longer identifies you, and what would have to happen before any of that changed.
We may use automated tools to flag a participation for review, but a person at Qualvey makes every decision about payment or account access.
6. What the sponsoring vendor receives
A vendor only ever sees your participation in their own campaign. Nothing you do anywhere else on Qualvey reaches them.
If you said you are open to being contacted, they receive your name, role, employer, your survey answers — including whether you asked to see more and how soon you would want to talk — and a relevance score.
If you said you are not open to being contacted, they receive your role, employer and answers, but not your name and not your contact details.
A vendor never receives:
- The reward amount, or that a reward exists at all
- How the relevance score is calculated, or what it takes into account
- Any notes you write
- Anything you do outside their campaign
- The identity of anyone you shared their video with — only how many
Once a vendor has your details, they hold that information independently and their use of it is governed by their own privacy policy. Our agreements require them to honour deletion requests we pass on, and restrict what else they may do with what they receive.
7. Who else touches your data
We use a small number of service providers, each of which may process your information only to provide its service to us and may not use it for anything else:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure — running the site and the application
- Database and record storage — where account and participation records are kept
- Authentication — signing you in and keeping your session secure
- Payment and reward fulfilment — issuing gift cards, if you choose the Earn option
- Email — sending you codes, confirmations and notices
- Video hosting — delivering the vendor content you watch
We keep a current list of these providers by name and will share it on request — email legal@qualvey.com.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
If Qualvey is acquired or merges. Participant information may transfer with the business, and a potential buyer may see it during diligence. Anyone who receives it that way takes it subject to the commitments in this policy, including section 14. We would tell you before your information became subject to a different policy, and a change of ownership does not by itself widen how it may be used.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
8. How long we keep it
- Account information — while your account is open, and for [12 months] afterwards
- Participation records — while your account is open, and afterwards in deidentified form because we billed a vendor for it and need it to prevent fraud
- Free-text answers and notes — [24 months] from the participation, then deleted or deidentified
- Payment records — as long as tax law requires, currently [7 years]
- Technical logs — [90 days], then deleted
Aggregate and deidentified records are kept indefinitely. Section 14 explains what those are, what we may do with them, and what we will never put into them.
9. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Correct anything wrong
- Delete your information
- Give you a copy in a portable format
- Stop using it for a particular purpose
If you are in California, you also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Exercising them will never affect what campaigns you are offered.
How to exercise them: email legal@qualvey.com. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity first, which usually means confirming you control the email address on the account.
What deletion actually does. We remove your identifying information — name, email, LinkedIn, and any free-text answers you ask us to remove. We keep a deidentified record that a participation happened, and we keep payment records where tax law requires. If a vendor already received your details, we pass your request to them, but we cannot delete data from their systems.
Deletion and aggregate information. Once a figure has been calculated across many participations, your individual answer cannot be pulled back out of it. Deleting your information removes you from everything going forward and removes the underlying record, but it does not retrospectively change a statistic already published. Nothing in that statistic identifies you.
10. Cookies
We use only the cookies Qualvey needs to work:
- Signing you in. Our authentication provider sets a cookie so you stay logged in as you move between pages. Without it you would have to sign in again on every click.
- Site function. Our website platform sets a small number of cookies that keep pages and forms working properly.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and nothing on our site reports your visit to a third party for marketing purposes.
That is why you will not see a cookie consent banner here. There is nothing to consent to beyond what makes the site work, and asking you to click through a banner for that would be theatre.
If we ever add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this section and add consent controls where they are required.
You can block cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to stay signed in to Qualvey.
11. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
12. Children
Qualvey is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, email legal@qualvey.com and we will delete it.
13. Where your data is held
Qualvey is a United States company and your information is processed in the United States. Participation is open to people based in the United States.
14. Aggregate and deidentified information
Some of what we hold stops being about you. This section explains when that happens, what we may do with the result, and what we will never put into it.
Two different things
Aggregate information is a figure calculated across many participations — "34% of participants asked for a follow-up," or "controllers at companies over 500 people rated this category 4.1 out of 5." It is a count or an average. It is not about any one person and it cannot be turned back into one.
Deidentified information is an individual record we have stripped of the things that point to you: your name, email address, LinkedIn profile, employer, and anything in your free text that identifies you or your company. It is still one record rather than a number, so it needs more care, and the commitments below apply to it.
What we may do with them
- Publish aggregate statistics about how Qualvey performs
- Publish, or licence to others, aggregate benchmarks and analysis about a category of product — what people in a given role think about a class of software, what lands and what does not, with no person, employer or vendor identified
- Use deidentified records internally to improve how Qualvey works, to understand which campaigns are worth running, and to build products from what the responses show in the aggregate
What we commit to when we deidentify
- We will not attempt to reidentify you, and we will not help anyone else do it
- Anyone we give deidentified information to will be contractually required to do the same, and not to combine it with other data in order to work out who you are
- We will say publicly that we handle it as deidentified information, which is what this section does
Where your notes sit
Notes exist so you can think freely while you watch, without composing anything for an audience. Two commitments, and they are different from each other:
- No vendor ever sees them. Not the text, not a summary, not an extract, not with your name removed. That does not change.
- We may count them. Your notes may form part of aggregate figures and deidentified analysis in exactly the same way your survey answers do, under exactly the same limits set out in this section. What that produces is a pattern across many people — never your note, and never anything traceable to you.
We are drawing the line there rather than promising never to look, because the second promise would not be true and we would rather tell you where the line actually is.
What is never included
- Your name, email address, LinkedIn profile, or the email address you nominated for a reward
- Free text that names your employer or identifies your company, unless that detail has been removed first
- Anything that would let a reader work out who you are from role and employer taken together
What would have to happen before this changed
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your responses to train AI models and we do not licence them to anyone who does.
If we ever wanted to, we would ask you before you took part — not afterwards. A new use would apply only to participations you completed after you opted in to it, and it would be a separate, specific choice rather than a box bundled into something else. Updating this policy would not be enough on its own, and we would not treat your continued use of Qualvey as agreement.
We are writing that down now, while the answer is no, because a commitment made before there is anything to gain from breaking it is worth more than one made afterwards.
15. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a material change we will tell you by email and show the new version before your next participation. Every version is numbered and dated.
A change to this policy does not by itself widen how we may use information you have already given us. Section 14 explains what that would require.
